There are multiple methods to increase the ranking of a web page in the search results. Some most important SEO tasks include:
- Keyword research
What does keyword research mean? Keyword research is one of the most important tasks an SEO expert does. It involves finding out which type of keywords people are searching for. Make a list of your targeted keywords and then optimize your content with them. But before you search for the keywords you must identify:

- What does your audience searching for?
- Why they need such information? and
- What type of keywords they are using in their search queries?

What Are Targeted Keywords?

Include the services and products you offer, your target markets and geographical locations of potential clients in your list.
- Make your content reader-friendly:
In 2019, Google is all about the user’s experience. Gone are the days when you stuffed your content with the keywords and ranked high. Make your content as user-friendly as possible.
User experience means that when someone visits your website he/ she wants to stay for some time and read it and this gives a signal to Google that your page is user-friendly and great in terms of optimization. This gives Google a hint that your page has met the requirements of Google’s search algorithm.
When people stay on your page it makes Google think that your page is relevant to the search query which people are looking for. Make your content as simple and understandable as possible.
If you are writing a blog then try to write longer blogs of more than 1000 words. Nowadays search engines and especially Google tend to prefer in-depth content so you should take a deep dive into your content.
- Monitor your content:
SEO is a continuous process. You should monitor your content consistently using tools like Google Analytics, Serpstat, etc.
- What should be the Website response time?
Another important factor involving SEO for your website is improving the server response time. According to Google, the ideal server response time should be less than 200 ms.
The slow loading speed of your web page makes users annoyed and this makes Google annoyed too. According to a research conducted by the Nielsen Norman Group users may leave your web page in 10 – 20 seconds, so it is very important that you convey your idea to the users within 10 seconds.
- Add images to your content:
As you know that the visuals convey the idea better than the text, so you should add images in your content which are relevant to your text. But adding images is not enough; you also need to add Alt text to your images. Alt text helps search engines in indexing an image correctly.
Research is very important in content writing. Always do research about your content and include the latest stats and data relevant to your content.
These are some of the most important tasks for making your content SEO friendly but there is a lot more you can do to rank higher. Remember SEO is a continuous effort so there is no short cut to it and you have to work consistently and diligently to make your mark.
